Moving to Open-Source Identity Management with MACE Grouper, Shibboleth, and OpenRegistry

Tuesday, March 10, 2009 | 5:35PM–6:25PM | Room 552 A
Session Type: Professional Development
Like many higher education institutions, Brown and Rutgers evolved homegrown identity management over the years. In response to growing demand for greater access to IdM services, both universities have committed to standards-based open-source technologies to better serve their communities. Brown implemented Internet2's MACE Grouper and Shibboleth products to delegate group management and to selectively release person and group information to applications on and off campus. Rutgers aims to meet the ongoing need for a sustainable, community-based identity registry platform to manage the full life cycle of identity data from business systems to existing IdM middleware.
