Locating the Library: Reevaluating and Repurposing Library Spaces

Tuesday, March 29, 2011 | 12:30PM–1:20PM | Room 552 A
Session Type: Professional Development
This panel will share the outcomes of three concurrent projects at the University of Connecticut's Babbidge Library to assess, repurpose, and/or redesign library spaces to meet the needs of our users. These projects illustrate three approaches to library space: a global evaluation of library public space in order to clarify redesign objectives; a local redesign/repurposing of the reference/help desk; and a user-based assessment used to discover what undergraduates desire in the spaces they use to do academic work. The panelists will share objectives, processes, and resources, as well as ample visual data.
