The Math that Matters behind Math and Science (E-)Textbooks
Wednesday, March 14, 2012 | 12:30PM–1:20PM | Room 554
Session Type:
NC12
Converting a math-intensive textbook to an e-book can be tricky and time-consuming, especially if it's a collaborative book. Simply moving the paper content to an e-book leads to "shovelware": engaging activities and the contributions of math and science teachers from the trenches are missing. But everyone has limited resources. How can you author effective e-books with constraints? We'll share practical rules-of-thumb on getting the most out of your limited resources to create engaging and interactive e-learning content. Participants will help create a simple exercise for the book to see how joint crowdsourcing can work.
