Bridges and DAMS: Building Library and IT Partnerships

Tuesday, March 31, 2015 | 9:30AM–10:20AM | Room 554
Session Type: Professional Development
Digital asset management is envisioned as an enterprise program in support of teaching, learning, and research at Smith College. While it is one of the key opportunities in the IT strategic plan, the implementation is led by the libraries. We'll share our aspirations, challenges, and solutions as we moved forward in this collaborative adventure. We created "bridge" units across IT and libraries (that is, we created a virtual merged organization for DAMs). We will present a compelling case study that aims to leverage the combined expertise of IT and libraries as the primary infrastructure in support of the academic mission.

OUTCOMES: Learn how one institution creates collaborative opportunities between IT and the library and within a regional consortium * Discuss ways IT and libraries in liberal arts settings can leverage lessons learned from other institutions (i.e., research universities)
