Wednesday, April 01, 2015 | 2:50PM–3:40PM | West Prefunction Area
Session Type: Professional Development
Educational programs promoting the development of an interdisciplinary perspective are desirable for addressing complex real-world problems, but academic departments often function as self-contained silos. Our master's program in public health is developing online learning modules to supplement face-to-face teaching and foster development of an interdisciplinary perspective. Engaging online cases (e.g., investigation of a childhood leukemia cluster) are being developed for an integrated core course teaching applications of epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, and health law to complex health problems. We will share and discuss how these cases are further supported by interlinked discipline-specific online modules that promote interdisciplinary learning.

OUTCOMES: Identify and describe the key elements of interactive online learning modules * Describe how different categories of modules might be used to foster an integrated curriculum * Discuss the potential application of modules in your own curriculum
