Colleges and universities increasingly depend on digital services to support teaching, learning, research, and operations. The reliability and performance of everything from LMS and collaboration platforms to administrative and student-facing services now directly shapes institutional effectiveness and community trust. This session explores how higher ed IT leaders can move beyond managing tech and systems to intentionally designing, operating, and measuring the health of end-to-end digital services. We will discuss practical approaches for defining services in ways that reflect academic and business priorities, understanding how underlying technologies contribute to service performance, and will earlier insight into issues that affect users. The session will also examine the growing role of internet performance and digital experience visibility in higher education, since it is increasingly important to understand what students, faculty, and staff experience (both on and off campus) and how external dependencies influence service quality. Finally, we will discuss how flexible platform and licensing models can better align with the financial and operational realities of higher education and enable institutions to adapt capabilities as needs evolve. The conversation will incorporate perspectives from leading institutions and will be highly interactive, encouraging participants to share challenges, lessons learned, and priorities from their own environments.
