Peer-Led AI: Empowering Students to Teach Generative AI in the First-Year Classroom

Wednesday, March 11, 2026 | 11:15AM–12:00PM ET | Room 551 AB
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Demonstration
In this session, we’ll detail the process of working with the First-Year Experience program at Framingham State University to develop a presentation on generative AI that can be delivered by both peer mentors (upper classmen embedded within select classes) and faculty. To develop this presentation, we wanted to integrate several different perspectives on AI, including “A Framework for AI Literacy” from EDUCAUSE, the Anthropic Teaching AI Fluency course, and Microsoft’s AI for Learning and Education. In addition to the narrative of how the lesson came to be, this session will detail the process of deciding which aspects of AI to focus on, how to manage competing faculty perspectives, and how to train student mentors to deliver the lesson.
