This presentation will describe two network management solutions that address problems associated with connecting personal computers to the campus network. CampusManager uses VLANs to protect the network from unauthorized use, ensuring that all clients agree to an acceptable use policy for on-campus technology and that their computers comply with minimum antivirus standards and have up-to-date software. PacketFence, an open source network registration and worm-mitigation package, uses ARP cache manipulation to inject itself into client data streams.
