Application Security in the Cloud

Wednesday, April 06, 2011 | 10:45AM–11:45AM | Travis AB/Third Level
Session Type: Professional Development
Institutions are interested in applications in the cloud due to the "miracle of marginal cost." While offloading maintenance to the cloud provider and the elasticity of applications in the cloud are attractive features, the security implications are cloudy. This presentation is aimed at clearing the haze and analyzing the security aspects of embracing applications in the cloud. The various models of hosting applications and their security layers will be outlined. Perspectives from a cloud provider and cloud customer will be presented. Standards, business practices, and legal matters of interest will also be touched upon.
