Research Computing Services

Tuesday, January 28 | 10:45AM–11:30AM | Palm Ballroom AD
Session Type: Professional Development
Research computing has become essential to many disciplines, and it is budding in others. As institutions struggle to meet the diverse computational needs of our communities, what services are needed to best enable research across our campuses? What is the right set of hardware infrastructure (networking, computation, storage)? What software is most needed (commercial packages, programming support, building, and packaging)? What is the appropriate level of staffing to manage and facilitate the use of research computing services? Where does the line get drawn between central services, departmental services, and activities that are the responsibility of the individual PI? How does it all get funded?

Facilitated by the ECAR-CCI Working Group.
