InCommon: A Foundation for Leveraging Shared Services on Campus

Monday, May 16, 2011 | 12:00PM–12:50PM | Seville Ballroom West (1st Floor)
Session Type: Professional Development
Consideration of adopting InCommon involves an understanding of the value proposition, identity management practices, and what it takes to get up and running from both a business process and a technical perspective. InCommon creates a "trust fabric," building a networked identity layer that allows a university's identity management system to control the authentication of its members while also allowing a third?party service provider to control the authorization of users and plan for future offerings such as certificates and higher levels of assurance.
