Common Sense and Technology: A Library Usability Experience

If building and maintaining accessible and intuitive digital and analog resources is critical to successful libraries, so too is assessing these resources. This session will describe the efforts of librarians at two institutions as they design, employ, analyze, and assess the results of usability testing aimed to determine the effectiveness of both a library website and a library instruction program. Usability testing helps determine whether patrons are finding the resources they need on the library website and within the library. The results of these assessment techniques improve the website and move us toward a better achievement of instruction goals.
