As an alternative to the analogue or VoIP telephony service for campus, two institutions have piloted cloud telephony services from Google Voice and Skype with part-time and/or distance-learning faculty members. The services offered free and unique telephone numbers and calling on networked PC or mobile devices, as well as a list of additional services such as transcribed message to e-mail or cell phone text message, call screening, and blocking on unwanted numbers, for free. Responses from the pre-project needs assessment and post rollout opinion surveys will be shared.
