Is It Fair? Is It Legal? Using Active Learning to Teach About Intellectual Property and Citation Ethics

The panel discussion will explore ways of educating students about issues of information ownership, including plagiarism, copyright, and fair use. The panelists, from Dartmouth and MassArt, have developed programs and courses that use collaborative and active learning to teach about information ethics. The panel will facilitate a discussion on the value of these pedagogical approaches. It will also help attendees assess their institutions' programming on intellectual property and ethical citation practices.
