Keys to Collaboration: Breaking the Barriers Between Librarians and Faculty

Wednesday, March 30, 2011 | 9:30AM–10:20AM | Room 552 A
Session Type: Professional Development
Collaboration between librarians, teaching faculty, and other campus entities is key to moving information literacy beyond the course level toward program- and institutional-level integration. However, numerous barriers including institutional culture, insufficient time and staff, and lack of understanding of roles and responsibilities often obstruct collaborative efforts. Drawing on original research and using interactive activities, this session will assist participants in identifying strategies to overcome obstacles to collaboration. Learning outcomes for this session include identifying existing obstacles, brainstorming strategies for overcoming obstacles, and creating action plans to promote higher levels of collaboration on campus.
