Tech Fellows: Developing Student Workers into Instructional Technology Assistants
Wednesday, March 30, 2011 | 3:15PM–4:05PM | Room 554
Session Type:
Professional Development
The notion of hiring student workers to help with technology support has been around for years. Many institutions enlist students to answer phones, log tickets, install software, and troubleshoot issues. But what about student involvement in instructional technology? What role should students play? What skills should they have? And how can we help them transition from student workers to true technology assistants who are an integral part of our instructional technology teams? This session will present Tech Fellows, a model for recruiting, orienting, training, and equipping student workers to be an instrumental part of the instructional technology organization.
