A Day at the Breach

Tuesday, March 13 | 3:00PM–3:50PM | Room 553
Session Type: NC12
It's August 10 at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and the school is not contemplating how to spend a day at the beach. Instead, they are informing approximately 75,000 individuals associated with the university of a security incident that may have exposed their names and SSNs. Those affected were primarily current and former employees and students. This session serves as a starting point for schools just now realizing that security policies alone may leave them in a weak or vulnerable position. Coupling the policy with an educational strategy will put the university in a stronger position toward preventing data breaches.
