Applied Liberally: Google Apps for Education across Campus and as LMS Alternative

Wednesday, March 14, 2012 | 9:30AM–10:20AM | Room 552
Session Type: NC12
Wellesley's summer 2011 move to Google Apps for Education has already resulted in widespread use of Groups, Docs, Calendar, Sites and Gmail, to the extent that some faculty are using GAE for courses instead of our LMS (Sakai). We'll briefly explain our migration and support model for the transition, and discuss how faculty, staff, and students are employing GAE for a range of tasks. Then we'll show our template for creating Sites for courses, share our faculty's assessment of the value of course Sites (along with Docs and Groups, and hybrid models with Sakai), and explore with attendees the currently available and potential functions in GAE to complement or replace a traditional LMS.
