Case Study: Transitioning MIT Students to Pharos Printing

Wednesday, March 14 | 9:30AM–10:20AM | Room 553
Session Type: NC12
In the summer of 2011, MIT ended 16 years of unmanaged, free printing for students with the implementation of a quota system and "hold-and-release" printing using Pharos. Pharos Uniprint provides cost-recovery, print-management, and other enterprise printing features. However, deployment is not always simple or straightforward, particularly when replacing an existing enterprise printing system. Join us as we talk about our transition and the lessons we learned, as well as the benefits and pitfalls, both expected and unexpected. This session is appropriate for all schools, regardless of Pharos-implementation status.
