Faculty and Students Interactions in the Digital Landscape of the Facebook Age

Wednesday, March 14, 2012 | 12:30PM–1:20PM | Room 552
Session Type: NC12
Instructors have become very comfortable and successful using technology to present information. However, they have been less successful at adopting technologies that allow for the transformation and expansion of the teaching and learning process. This presentation will explore the common characteristics of technology implementations that successfully increase learner engagement. In this context we seek to explore the pedagogical strategies that allow students to be more engaged with the content, with the instructor, and with each other. We'll share the best practices that emerged from the study of four successful course redesign projects at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
