Getting Out of One's Own Way to Help IT Continue to Matter

Wednesday, March 14 | 2:50PM–3:40PM | West Prefunction
Session Type: NC12

What happens when front-end support and back-end administrators report to the same director/manager level in an IT organization? In 2008, Wesleyan decided to merge two director-level positions into one. What efficiencies were gained? Does this work? This session will address the overall benefits of this model to the organization and suggests that, formally or informally, it can reduce decision-making lag and help the department move toward a strategy of service delivery that allows IT to remain strategically important.
