The MIT Websurvey Service: Under the Covers with a noSQL Database System

Tuesday, March 13 | 3:00PM–3:50PM | Ballroom D/E
Session Type: NC12
The MIT Websurvey service has been in existence for more than 10 years. In addition to providing service to internal MIT clients, it's used by several other schools as part of the Consortium on Financing Higher Education's (COFHE) student, parent, and alumni surveys. This presentation will discuss the technology used to implement the service, focusing on its use of the CouchDB database system and how it facilitates a high-performance, high-reliability platform at a very reasonable cost.
