The Technical Part Was Easy: How a Low-Cost IdM System Fixed Other Problems Too

MassArt used its existing ERP system and a central LDAP server to build a low-cost identity management system. We now automatically provision and deprovision accounts as people come and go. In the process, we learned a lot about what it means to have an "identity" at the college, and we uncovered a lot of unclear college policies and poorly maintained data. We'll talk about both the technical approach and the decidedly nontechnical issues we encountered in implementation.
