A Flipped Classroom: A Case Study Integrating MyITLab in a Technology-Literacy Course

Tuesday, March 25 | 12:30PM–1:20PM | Room 550
Session Type: Professional Development

Curry College faculty and students will share their experiences with MyITLab, an online training and assessment product by Pearson, which has been implemented in a technology literacy course. MyITLab changed how we teach. It is used to create a flipped classroom approach, which gives students the opportunity to familiarize themselves with technology topics before participating in an instructor-led discussion, thereby enhancing their learning. Paramount learning outcomes of this course are to help students develop their critical-thinking skills and to use technology successfully in their personal, academic, and professional lives.

OBJECTIVES: Learn how we gathered the constituencies involved in implementing MyITLab, determined that an online tool was needed, identified the publishers to choose from, and evaluated the benefits and restrictions of each product * Learn how we evaluate challenges and successes from faculty and student perspectives * Understand how to align critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, and digital citizenship with concrete skills using MyITLab
