Crowdsourcing Design: Using the Ideal Space Design Exercise to Gather Student Feedback on Collaborative Space Redesigns

Wednesday, March 26, 2014 | 2:50PM–3:40PM | West Prefunction Area
Session Type: Professional Development

What do students want in an informal collaborative space? Using an ideal space design exercise, our library found out. During the session, participants will have the opportunity to draw what they think students need. We'll outline our ideal space design process, share results, and compare with other participants' submissions. We'll also provide tips on the exercise and offer examples of changes in response to feedback. Attendees will be able to identify user needs at a large research-intensive university and gain research techniques and space designs to use at their own institutions.

OBJECTIVES: Create your own learning space design idea and benchmark it against actual responses from users * Identify the ideal collaborative space desires of some users at a large research-intensive university * Use the ideal space design research technique at your own institution
