Greener Pastures: The Transformation of MassArt's Print Center

Tuesday, March 25 | 3:00PM–3:50PM | Room 554
Session Type: Professional Development

In this session, we will describe and outline strategies for how MassArt transformed its free, unlimited student printing into a revenue-generating, DIY student print center. By focusing on a few main areas, we will provide a perspective on "going green" involving PaperCut software implementation, wireless printing, streamlining inventory and processes with Google Docs, innovative collaboration via recycling, and physical space redesign. In addition, we will share the challenges we encountered and successful strategies for shifting the student mind-set. We will share back-end analytics of our print management software for attendees to gain specific knowledge, including real-time environmental impact.

OBJECTIVES: Understand the value of implementing print management software on campus * Learn how to use the cloud, specifically Google Docs, to create more efficient systems * Learn strategies for recycling beyond traditional methods * Learn how to assess student need for new technology
