Session Type: Professional Development
The open educational resources movement has gained significant momentum, yet many barriers remain to broader use and creation of OER in higher education. Campus libraries may hold the key to overcoming these barriers and are increasingly becoming involved in OER. This session will provide an overview of the library community's emerging role in advancing OER, including numerous real-world examples and specific recommendations for attendees to bring back to campus. Ample time will be left for questions and discussion.

OBJECTIVES: Gain a basic understanding of the OER movement and primary barriers to the adoption and creation of OER * Be able to visualize the various roles the library can play in advancing OER * Be able to formulate a plan for engaging the library in OER on returning to campus
