Plan It, but Will They Come? Attracting Faculty to an On-Campus Technology Conference

Tuesday, March 25, 2014 | 3:00PM–3:50PM | Room 550
Session Type: Professional Development

Saint Anselm College reimagined its Summer Faculty Institute (SFI), with the help of an EDUCAUSE On Campus content kit; tight collaboration between instructional technology, librarian, and faculty development teams; and a strong marketing approach. This strategy resulted in one-third of the faculty attending SFI 2013—unprecedented participation in an event of this kind at the college. This session will share how SFI 2013 evolved, from concept to reality, and share lessons learned that can be replicated at other institutions.

OBJECTIVES: Explore Saint Anselm College's SFI 2013 program for possible replication at your institution * Investigate how collaboration between IT&D, the library, and the Center for Teaching Excellence staff resulted in a more holistic approach to a faculty development initiative * Discuss SFI outcomes, which have resulted in highly productive collaborations lasting throughout the academic year
