In this session, we will use survey data, audience polling, and extensive attendee Q&A and discussion to explore the ways in which the established model of equipping labs and classrooms with computers may be reaching the end of its useful life. We will discuss their proposal for rethinking the "computer classroom" at Fairfield University and engage attendees in a dialogue designed to help refine their own ideas and develop alternate versions that can work at schools of different sizes, with different student populations. We will also address possible ways to sell these new ideas to faculty and administrators.
OBJECTIVES: Be able to assess and reconsider your options when you're next scheduled to "refresh" a room * Learn about trends related to up-and-coming college students' technology use and their technology preferences * Brainstorm ways to sell these new ideas to faculty and administrators * Collectively discuss ways our ideas for moving forward at Fairfield might or might not work at other schools and discuss possible directions
