Collaboration Makes It Better: Using Stakeholder Input to Design and Market a New Library Space

Tuesday, March 31 | 4:00PM–4:50PM | Room 555
Session Type: Professional Development
More space is better, right? But how do you reconcile patron desires with your administrative limits? Hear how Emerson College's Iwasaki Library solicited ideas for a new 640-square-foot room in the library using a number of methods including informal suggestion boards, conversations with staff, a three-hour participatory design workshop, and a collaboration with marketing students. Find out what worked well, what didn't, and how you can do it too.

OUTCOMES: Identify multiple ways to solicit input from stakeholders * Describe the experience of being in a PDW and articulate its value to administrators
