Risk Management through Security Planning: A View from a CIO and a CISO

Wednesday, April 01 | 12:30PM–1:20PM | Room 551
Session Type: Professional Development
Security and risk are both important to any enterprise and, while related, they most often are separated. This presentation will offer a combined view by two practitioners of how sound security planning is a risk-management technique. While this is a very broad topic, this presentation will be a great primer for those starting the journey or a valid benchmark for those with such programs in place. We will compare and contrast a small, local college with an Ivy League research school to show that the thought processes are the same and that no matter an institution's size, results can be achieved with this approach.

OUTCOMES: Learn how to benchmark your security strategies relative to risk management * Understand how sound security planning can reduce risk * Obtain examples and real-world successes to emulate at your institution
