Security Awareness: Better Together

Tuesday, March 31, 2015 | 12:30PM–1:20PM | Room 553
Session Type: Professional Development
A recent literature review of security awareness in higher education indicates higher success rates are found when a wide array of employees are involved in the design of the actual security awareness program. In keeping with the mantra "the process is as important as product," in fall 2014 a small team from ITS set out to get input from up to 200 faculty and staff on what we should do to develop awareness across campus around data security policies and best practices. We'll share why we did this, how we did it, and the outcomes.

OUTCOMES: Learn about relevant research on security awareness programs * Learn how to define security awareness instructional tasks and diagnose the current state of learning and key components of collaborating to design security awareness program
