A Flipped Classroom: Engaging Students In and Out of the Classroom

Wednesday, March 23, 2016 | 4:10PM–5:00PM | Room 551
Session Type: Professional Development
Faculty and students will share their experiences with the flipped classroom that has been implemented into a Curry College technology literacy course, which allowed us to change how we teach. A flipped classroom approach gives students the opportunity to familiarize themselves with technology topics before participating in an instructor-led discussion, thereby enhancing student learning. One of the paramount learning outcomes of this course is to assist students in developing their critical thinking skills and utilize technology successfully in their personal, academic, and professional lives.

Outcomes: Learn how to assemble interested parties and identify publishers * Evaluate the benefits and restrictions of products and assess the challenges and successes * Determine ways to align critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, and digital citizenship with concrete skills
