A VDI Design for Cultural Change

Tuesday, March 22, 2016 | 12:30PM–1:20PM | Room 554
Session Type: Professional Development
MCC recently deployed VDI on a large scale to change a long-standing culture of costly hardware replacements, massive support overhead, and archaic user expectations. Basic goals were to enhance the overall computing experience, reduce costs, deliver applications consistently, streamline support, and sustainably position the college for a growing and dynamic future. Extensive planning and research helped us exceed our design parameters and expectations for performance and adaptability. This presentation will provide a look at the roadmap for securing buy-in across institutional domains and the key factors of the technical design for exceptional performance and alignment with academic and administrative computing demands.

Outcomes: Apply principles of VDI planning to projects at your institution * Articulate a conceptual plan for a VDI environment * critically evaluate competing solutions
