Partly Cloudy Doesn't Mean Mostly Sunny

Wednesday, March 23, 2016 | 12:00PM–12:50PM | Room 555
Session Type: Professional Development
This year our university leaped into the cloud after two years of careful, coordinated planning. This effort significantly reduced our on-site technology footprint, in line with our area strategic goals. Still, maintaining a hybrid ("partly cloudy") environment created some interesting security challenges during the initiative's life cycle. This presentation will highlight how we approached and overcame these challenges to deliver a "sunny" outlook for our future technology posture.

Outcomes: Understand that cloud migration can be complex, requiring thoughtful planning and helpful technology partners * Understand that cloud security planning cannot be simply reduced to certifications provided by the vendor and cloud-hosting platform
