Session Type: Professional Development
Visual writing has become increasingly commonplace in higher education classrooms. Wellesley College's faculty and staff provide conceptual and technical support for digital storytelling, video essays, media blogs, and online video publications. We can now document remarkable outcomes in student learning resulting from participating in these new media exercises. This session will look at how we have integrated these visual writing methods into the academic curriculum, highlighting moments of discovery, innovative collaboration, systems for support, and examples of students' critical engagement. This session will identify a model that can be used to anticipate higher ed's adoption of future new media instructional technology.

Outcomes: Learn about several forms of visual writing as an instructional tool * Identify methods for using new media in assignment development * Learn how other institutions are using new media in instructional support
