Visual Simplicity: Communicating the Value of IT

Tuesday, March 22 | 12:30PM–1:20PM | Room 551
Session Type: Professional Development
How do we understand our technical architecture in a way that informs strategy? How can we communicate a complex environment simply in order to demonstrate progress over time? In this discussion we will use data-visualization techniques to illustrate complex technical environments in ways that are both highly informative and easy to understand. This approach helps improve internal communication within an IT organization about core operational systems while also conveying to external stakeholders changes over time, dependencies between systems, service ownership, and security risks.

Outcome: Obtain a template for how to present technically complex environments and identify useful metrics that can help inform future decisions
