Analysis of network device logs supported a paradigm shift in the response to virus and worm outbreaks at Rutgers. Previously dependent solely on reports from outside institutions, the Rutgers University Computing Incident Response Team (RU CIRT) took on a proactive role in the detection of infected hosts.
