In this session, a new information security governance resource in the EDUCAUSE security guide will be presented. The resource defines information security governance, describes various organizational structures, and explains information security roles and responsibilities. The importance of information security governance to strategic planning, risk management, and policy and compliance will be presented. Attendees will learn the benefits of effective information security governance, best practices, behaviors, and outcomes. They will also learn what questions to ask leaders that might improve information security governance at their institutions. Examples of governance models used by higher education institutions will be provided.
