The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is a complex and mandatory set of technical and administrative requirements mandated by the credit card industry for anyone who is involved in credit card transactions. The use of applications certified by the PCI Payment Application Data Security Standards (PA-DSS) soon will be required by all. These standards can be challenging to implement in higher education institutions and will have different impacts in different environments.
