Look Up: It's a Bird! It's a Plane! It's Your Sensitive Data in the Cloud!

Wednesday, May 07 | 4:15PM–5:15PM | Grand Ballroom Salon B
Session Type: Professional Development

The cloud is the new frontier for data storage and is now considered by analysts as a viable option. Employees and students are undoubtedly sharing and storing personal and work-related information there. The ubiquity and accessibility of data in the cloud can be perceived as a major headache for administrators and information security teams ("shadow IT"). This session will take a look at the old paradigms of information security on-premise, what can be translated into this new space, and how you as security and administrative personnel can gain confidence in securing data in this new realm.

Outcomes: Understand the risks involved in users leveraging the Internet for information storage * Mitigate the risk while still allowing the end user to work productively * Find solutions that balance security and productivity
