Learning analytics provide context for social interactions, helping learners visualize goals, progress, and achievements in ways that positively influence the development of communities. We will present multidisciplinary contextualization for learning analytics, research applying social exchange theory to how people allocate their attention, and the development of reputation in learning communities.
