Thursday, November 14, 2024 | 12:25PM–12:45PM ET
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Facilitated Playback/Simulive Session
The future of work presents a complex puzzle. Automation and AI threaten jobs, while evolving skills are crucial for success. This rapid change demands ensuring everyone can reskill and upskill. Widening income inequality and ethical concerns around data privacy and bias require careful attention. Ultimately, bridging the gap between education, training, and the job market is key to navigating this future. Recognizing the need for strong research skills, the National Science Foundation (NSF) funded the collaborative network BRICCs-TX (award number: 2346668). This initiative brings Texas community colleges and universities together to develop these essential skills in students. As the information landscape evolves, BRICCs-TX equips future workers to navigate complexity, solve problems independently, and make informed decisions?regardless of their field. This panel presentation offers a timely exchange of information, bridging the gap between student needs and the expectations of both higher education and industry.
