Delivery Format: Facilitated Playback/Simulive Session
Navigating the path to graduation can present significant challenges for students, particularly those lacking essential academic skills and mindsets. At Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), the Alethea Academic Coach emerged as a transformative tool that flips the script on the use (and misuse) of generative AI in education. It blends proven learning methodologies with AI to improve learning skills through deeper engagement with course readings and academic texts. This approach has proven effective in improving student comprehension, the time they spend reading, and their course completion rates. In this session we'll share insights from FGCU’s implementation of Alethea, walk through its methodology, and discuss the significant change it has on improving student academic performance. Attendees will learn about the creative ways instructors at FGCU are using Alethea in their courses. We will also delve into the broader implications of AI tools in educational settings, emphasizing their potential to inclusively enhance learning experiences for students from diverse backgrounds.
