How can AI help prepare future educators for the unpredictable dynamics of real classrooms? This session explores the development and evaluation of an adaptive, GPT-powered simulation that allows preservice teachers to engage in immersive, scenario-based decision-making. We'll share findings from a mixed-methods study of 24 participants, highlight the strengths and limitations of AI-generated student interactions, and discuss how this low-barrier approach to simulation design can scaffold pedagogical reasoning, relational ethics, and reflective practice—not only in teacher education, but also in fields like nursing, counseling, and social work, where adaptive decision-making and interpersonal skills are essential.
