Building Institutional AI Readiness through Scalable, Theory- Driven Training

As generative AI adoption accelerates in higher education, many institutions continue to address readiness through individual skill building rather than organizational alignment. This session presents a scalable AI training model to advance institutional readiness by establishing shared ethical norms, strengthening digital literacy, and informing policy and governance conversations. Grounded in Cognitive Load Theory and Experiential Learning Theory, the training model supports long-term learning while accommodating diverse participant backgrounds. Training data reveals participants’ clear distinction between ethical assistive uses of AI and unethical substitutive uses, alongside areas of uncertainty that signal the need for organizational action. Using a four-domain organizational development framework: individual and group development, infrastructure and resources, policies and procedures, and organization wide initiatives. Participants will examine how training data can surface readiness gaps and guide sustainable institutional AI integration.
