During the summer of 2006, Reference and Digital Library Services departments of the Oklahoma State University Libraries started discussions about implementing an instant messaging service. This presentation will provide a brief history of that decision process and the choice of software and training for librarians. Advertising, successes, and issues/solutions will be presented.
