After the Class: Informal Training Support Through the Penn State Technology Training Community

Research shows that extended learning happens after class through informal discussions and on-the-job application of skills learned in class. To help meet these needs, Penn State's Information Technology Services training unit has developed an online collaborative learning community that allows users to participate in online conversations; view tips and tricks, and locate other relevant information. This presentation will focus on the process used to design and develop this online learning community, the challenges faced, the lessons learned, the positive impact on training support, future goals for this project, and suggestions for creating your own community of practice.
