Thin Clients Not Dumb Terminals: The Return to a Centralized IT Environment and the Impact on the End-User Experience

In early 2009, the IT department began a preliminary investigation of implementing thin clients at MU to help meet the needs of our end users and to streamline support. Our goal is to create a true mobile computing experience for our clients by providing access to their desktops wherever they have Internet connectivity. Our pilot program will begin in the library and then expand to faculty test groups. We will discuss our successes and failures, especially from our clients' perspectives.
