IT and the New Normal - Sponsored by Oracle, An EDUCAUSE Gold Partner

Wednesday, June 02 | 2:00PM–3:15PM | Plaza Ballroom (10th floor)
Session Type: Professional Development
Technology has flattened the physical world, and the “Great Recession” has turned our economic world upside down. Many of our institutions have been in a reactive mode for the past two years, dealing with a seemingly endless stream of worsening economic news. IT is being asked to do more, or at least the same, with fewer resources. Moreover, we're being asked to lead with creativity and innovation in this environment that some are calling our “new normal.” A rethinking of our technology directions, business models, and investments is needed. Leverage, collaboration, and strategic investment are critical. This talk will share experiences in taking an entrepreneurial approach to building information technology (aka cyberinfrastructure) at the national, regional, and university levels over a 25-year period with particular focus on how the transformation of a university's programs and directions are impacting the campus and, increasingly, the state.
